The idea behind Mitma School came into existence in the summer of 2016, after which it was founded in Fall 2016. From fall 2016 – summer 2018, 25-30 underprivileged children living in the outskirts of Islamabad studied at Mitma School. An open-air school in a field, with children and teachers teaching and learning on a mat, Mitma School was the result of the efforts of our founder, Noor S. Khan, who was able to teach the children with the help of two other head teachers, Suleman Haroon and Jehan Adnan. The curriculum was developed by Noor, an AS student (in 2016), while the books and notebooks along with all other material were bought from local bookstores or were the result of donations. Unfortunately, after the summer of 2018, Mitma School had to temporarily stop running due to ownership issues of the land etc. Some of the students remain in contact with the teachers and are taught online or in-person when possible.
